City Street #1

Bristol paper, Tape, Sketch pencil, Fine Point Pen

9 x 12

Artist Statement: The maine idea that guided my artwork was the idea of 1 point perspective. I was trying to make a piece of art that really used one point perspective, where everything goes to a point. I had a few different Ideas, like doing a top down view of a room, but I eventually settled on a city street. I wanted to a street in new york so I looked at architecture, and picked out some references I liked.

I started with bristol paper becasue I like how thick it is, and then used tape to mark the edges at 2 cm. I then used a sketch pencil to make sure I had a good outline before pen. I then moved on to going over eveytthing with pen. This part was very time consuming and involved a lot of fine detail. I then had to take the tape off which envolved a heat gun to melt the tape. It went okay besides a few small tears in the paper.

The process involved me picking out references and making a few sketches of what I wanted to do. This part was very important becasue It would deside what the end picture would look like. I then went over with pen, and during this part I made quoite a few mistakes, but was able to fit them into the picture. In the end taking the tape off was very difficult and nerve wracking, and afterwards I was pretty proud of how everything came out.
