Markers

This is my disability inclusion design. For this project, my class and I were required to create a piece that brings awareness to disabled people, who are disabled both mentally and/or physically. This piece is for the Maine Disability Inclusion Project which brings a conscience to those who are disabled in Maine, and what we can do as a community to support those people. For my project, I decided to do someone who is physically disabled in the wilderness because being outside is very important to me and I can not imagine what it is like for disabled people to not be able to experience the same views of nature as able people because the trails are not made for them.

To create this piece, I started out with a reference picture of someone is a wheelchair, and sketched them on a bridge. After the drawing was finished to my liking, I went in with pen like I usually do, and then eventually added in color with markers. I am disappointed in my decision to use markers because the artwork ended up looking patchy, and the markers bleed out in a lot of places, but it is especially noticeable in the eye.
