Building Futures Together
Dear colleagues,
Welcome back! I hope you have all had a lovely break and have managed to rest and recharge. It is great to have you all back.
Endeavour Awards
We are back with a bang on Monday morning with an S4 Endeavour Awards at Assembly. Thanks to Ashley and her group for setting these up. As you know it has been a school improvement priority to improve our approach to identifying and celebrating wider achievement. The first Senior Endeavour Awards were presented on the last week of term. I have included the slides below for those of you were were not at the assembly. The initial feedback from young people has been very positive. Thanks to everyone for getting behind this.
Thanks to Sheen a for the reminder about tri-learning! Time slips away quickly so please do get together with your group of three. Here is a reminder of the Tri-learning groups for this year. In your group of three, try to use the this as an opportunity to show your Plus One. If that is not possible, agree the focus with the group on advance of the sharing sessions. If you need cover to make this worm, please see David. Remember that a meeting is planned for 9th May to review what has been seen and shared.
Promoting high Expectations & Following up on Behaviour data
To provide a safe and positive learning environment, we are committed to sending consistently high expectations to all pupils across the school. Continuing Neil and Gordon's 'plus one' work, please ensure that you remind our young people of our shared expectations on return. If you have an S1-S4 class during period 1, please take them through the slides in some detail (4-5 minutes); conversely, if you have an S1-S4 class in periods 2-6, please take them through the slides VERY quickly (1-2 minutes max).
Thanks to Kelly-Marie who has pulled the behaviour data for the first term. We have two blocks of behaviour data from term one to analyse and follow up. I know that Form Class Leaders are regularly checking the progress of pupils. Please use the data below to follow-up with individuals highlighted for intervention/ parental contact from last term.
Thanks again for your hard work and professionalism. Have a great week.
Elaine

Thank you to all of our colleagues from Social Subjects who welcomed Mark and I to their lessons on the last week of term.
Some of the key strengths for sharing across the school were:
Every lesson observed was very well planned and carefully structured
All lessons had starter tasks that forced learners to retrieve prior knowledge and made learners think deeply
All lessons had a plenary where the teacher gathered further information to check levels of understanding
Opportunities for learners to be active in pairs, groups and teams Eg, Cops & Robbers (S1) - steal others' ideas; Horse Races (S3) - Causes and consequences of crime; Sorting Activity (Higher) - Biosphere Key Terms and Processes
Strong example of post assessment task for N5 Modern Studies to engage with teacher feedback and make improvement
It was great to see so many merits in the last four week period - 3561. There were 1010 demerits logged. You can take a close look at the breakdown below.
Form Class Leaders/ PTsPS - Please follow-up with individuals highlighted red if you have not already. Please do also recognise those young people who have collected a significant number of merits.
