Weekly communication for staff

Dear colleagues,

Thanks for your patience with last week's March Madness! While there was the inevitable inconvenience, it was great to see many fabulous things up and running.

Last week also saw a COVID mitigation update. Here are the key things for us:

  • Note new risk assessment on source

  • Apply caution to physical distancing

  • No restrictions on assemblies

  • Face coverings by staff and pupils moving around school & in communal areas and transport

  • Visitors to follow routine mitigations

  • + Cases must isolate even if asymptomatic

** Transition to**

  • 18 April - no requirement to LFD test every week

  • Continue routine protective measures

  • Follow wider guidance on physical distancing

  • Day trips and residentials permitted

  • NO restrictions on parents and wider community entering the school

  • Testing sites will close by end of April

Thanks to Scott, David and Kate for preparing the school for our fund-raising efforts to support humanitarian aid to Ukraine. Here is a link to the charity Another busy week of events and activities. These staff /pupils, along with inter-house, are going a long way to pull us together and restore our ethos. Thanks to everyone for supporting these.

Please note that I'm out of school Monday and Tuesday, taking part in some training. As always, the DHTs will be on hand to support you with any issues. If you have time to help at intervals and lunchtimes in the atrium on those days, it would be much appreciated.

This term has been demanding to say the least. You have all done a fantastic job to support young people throughout. I wish you all a very happy and restful holiday when it comes.

Have a great week.

Elaine

Sharing Estimate with Pupils

The last drive to get SQA estimates ready. I know that some of you will be using Team Meetings for final moderation meetings, where timescales allow.

We will be sharing estimates with young people and their parents on 20 April. The absolute latest submission is by 3pm on 19th April. Phil will generate reports after this time.

These will be genrerated from SEEMiS.

Estimates should be entered into the Tracking & Monitoring module.

Ukraine Fundraiser Week

Here are the details of our fundraiser for Ukraine. Staff will play S6 in a range of different sports and events during lunch. Pupils and staff who play will be asked to pay a small donation to the Ukraine appeal. All pupils in the school will be able to watch these events and again we ask everyone to make a small donation, if they can, to watch the events.

Events are as follows:

Monday – Netball

Tuesday – Chess and Debate

Wednesday – Volleyball

Thursday – Badminton

Friday – Football

Friday the 1st of April there will be a non-uniform day with pupils and staff are asked to wear blue and yellow to show our support for the millions of people affected by the ongoing war. Again, we will ask pupils to make a small donation if they can (We recommend £1).

Our chosen charity is the Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC). This is an umbrella charity who support 15 UK aid charities to funds quickly and efficiently at times of crisis overseas. The money raised will contribute towards those displayed and fleeing from their homes to provide safe water, food medical assistance as well as care.

If we collect:

£30 could provide essential hygiene supplies for three people for one month

£50 could provide blankets for four families

£100 could provide emergency food for two families for one month

More information can be found on their website: www.dec.org.uk/appeal/ukraine-humanitarian-appeal

If you wish to donate to the Balfron High School fundraiser you can visit our Just Giving page. All donations are welcome and very much appreciated. https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/BalfronHighSchoolUkraine
