Weekly communication for staff
Dear colleagues,
I hope that you had a fabulous weekend and enjoyed the lovely weather.
As we start our new timetable, I would like to thanks Amanda, the Admin Team and the PTs for their hard work in getting it ready. It is a massive job.
Based in the theatre, the S6 Leadership Conference runs all Monday morning. S5 will be in class as normal and S6 will join them in classes in the afternoon. Please be aware that those S6 pupils being interviewed for prefect posts will be out of class for a short time in the afternoon.
MVP training for all of S5 will now run on Monday 20 June. Apologies for the inconvenience, this had to be changed due to unforseen circumstances.
The P7 Parents Information Evening will be delivered in person at school on Tuesday evening. It is exciting to have a whole group of parenst back with us. It is so important to meet in person to build a strong relationship and develop trust. Thanks to PTsPS and new Form Class leaders for being available to meet our new S1 classes.
As it is Pride month, our Ukrainian flag is now flying in the atrium to make way for the Pride flag in school grounds.
Have a great week.
Elaine

If you would like a new class set of mini whiteboards, please see Jennifer McNeillis. With the support of the Parent Council, we stocked up!
In this short video (10 mins), Tom Sherrington highlights the key reasons that checking for understanding and cold calling is critical to really knowing how well young people are learning.
In this episode we explore the following:
Why it is important for the teaching and learning lead to be evidence-informed
Why it is important that there is a vision for teaching and learning in a school
How Rachel has helped create a shared language around teaching and learning
How Rachel has made engaging with evidence accessible
How Rachel has optimised performance management to show that staying evidence-informed is important at her school.
I loved exploring Rachel's role as a teaching and learning lead and was particularly impressed by the resource she is creating using Google Classroom, i'm certainly going to borrow that idea.
Leadership Challenge - Attitudes and Actions
When was the last time you checked-in with someone and shared your space?
This is a message that we are sharing with S6 - keen to have them see the power and influence they have with younger years.
The message holds true for all of us - go on, reach out, share your space!
