Weekly communication for staff
Dear colleagues,
I hope you have had a restful and enjoyable break. The next six weeks will be intense for our senior phase pupils and I appreciate all of the input, feedback, support and encouragement that you will be providing. I will share a whole school prelim analysis shortly.
Thanks to everyone who presented during the inservice day. I hope that you all found the imputs useful. As with all things, it is important to evaluate the effectiveness and impact of the days, so please take a couple of minutes to complete the evaluation.
The most recent COVID update in mitigations begins on Monday 28 February. Until then, face coverings should be worn in all areas of the school. Here are the key changes to previous guidance:
removing the requirement to wear face coverings in secondary school classrooms, while maintaining existing provisions in communal areas or when in close contact with others
removing the remaining restrictions on assemblies
transition visits can now resume fully if appropriately risk assessed
You can review the full guidance here.
Many thanks to those who have had time to complete the form time consultaion. We will take a look at this next week, so if you have not yet shared your view, please complete the survey this week - Form Time Consultation
Welcome back - have a fantastic week!
Elaine
This week at Balfron High School:

Our programme will coincide with updated COVID mitigations. In addition, we will add the following in-house mitigations:
staff remain at the bottom of the tiered seating - complete paper register
seat pupils with free row between form classes
CO2 monitors at front and back to monitor levels.
If you have items that would be helpful to share in assembly, please let me know. I will be starting with a back-to-basics approach.
In-service Day Evaluation
Help review the impact of the inservice days by completing the evaluation. General feedback always welcome.

The webinar below provides an excellent overview of how we learn and what teachers need to consider.
The podcast below gives a short (15 minutes) overview of cognitive load theory. This is one of the most important theories that we need to consider when planning learning.
