Johann Mayer was born January 5, 1832 in Geburtsort, Germany (Prussia). He married Anna Maria Becker. They had six children:

Johann Mayer fought in the Civil War, Co. B., NY Infantry. He died Feb 26, 1902 in Great Bend, Kansas. He is buried in the Great Bend Cemetery, Barton County, Kansas.
