Obituary

Noah Long, son of Wesley B Long and Mary Ann Long, was born at Surgonsville, Tenn., May 1, 1860 and departed this life at the Halstead hospital, Halstead, Kansas, Aug. 29, 1933 at the age of 73 years, 3 months, and 28 days.

He was united in marriage with Lillie Belle Bradshaw at Rogersville, Tenn., Jan 1, 1888. In March of the following year--1889--Mr and Mrs Long moved to Stafford county, Kansas. They located on the farm which has been their home for over forty years--a beautiful, gracious, hospitable home.

In this home six children were born, five growing to manhood and womanhood in this home. The children are: Miss Ida Long, Supervisory Principle, Chicago, Ill.; George Long, well know, and much respected farmer of Stafford county, later of near Liberal, Kansas, who died in 1931; Mrs Carl Neill, of near Macksville, Kansas; a son who died in infancy; Mrs C.C. McCandless of near Stafford, Kansas; Mrs Harry Waters of the Livingston neighborhood; Fred Long at home.

Mr Long had been in poor health for some time, but ever of an active, cheerful disposition. Few outside the home realized his true condition. He became seriously ill about Aug. 10th and taken to the Halstead hospital on Aug 25th. There, after making a brave, cheerful fight, he passed away near the noon hour on Tuesday, Aug. 19th.

Mr Long was loved and respected by all who knew him. He was a thoughtful husband and father, a neighborly neighbor, and a true friend; a quiet man, with a kindly humor all his own, honest and generousness and upright.

He lives to mourn his loss, his loving wife, his four fine daughters and his youngest son; also two brothers, Issac and Wesley Long, and one sister Mrs. Lizzy Shank....
