I am not a dog person. Growing up we had dogs, big dogs - Siberian Huskers and Bernese Mountain Dogs. But when I was eight years old (or so) I found a stray orange tabby cat on the side of the road and have been a cat person ever since.  Cat, as he came to be called (or Kitty or kitter or other variations on the feline theme) in my opinion, was way better than a dog. He was smarter, he was faster, he was more agile and he didn't crap in the house. He could also read my moods. When I was a teenager, he would follow me when I would run out of the house in a huff and could gauge when I needed some space or a warm, whiskery nuzzle.

I have lots of friends who are dog people and could not picture their life without some sort of canine companion. I guess I am not ready for that kind of pet commitment. Having a dog is like having a loud, demanding child. But having a cat is like having a quiet and somewhat indifferent roommate.

Bunnies on the other hand, are a completely different story.
