DRAMA PARTICIPATION CONTRACT

Congratulations! Your student has been chosen to participate in the Fall Production. Included in this contract are both the parent and student responsibilities that are expected of you and your student. Please read this contract carefully and have your student read it as well.

PARENT RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Support your student in attending all assigned rehearsals and arriving on time. Please pick up your student within 15 minutes of rehearsal ending time.

• Support your student in remaining after all rehearsals and performances to complete clean up.

Parents are encouraged to volunteer their time helping prepare for the production outside the rehearsal space. Running errands, picking up supplies, painting, helping with the costume search, working the box office/concessions, etc.

STUDENT RESPONSIBILITIES: Rehearsal/Performance expectations:

1. Punctual attendance at all rehearsals and calls:

Students are allowed 3 excused absences. Any exceptions must be approved by Mr. Kienbaum and must be given at least 1 day in advance in writing and signed by the parent. The director must be notified of an absence due to illnesses the same day the student is out of school. If a student is late to calls/rehearsals 3 times, it will be considered an absence. Failure to adhere to this policy will result in the student being dropped from the play.

2. No rehearsals may be missed during the two weeks before the show.

3. Rehearsal/call schedule may be altered. Keep apprised of changes by checking the website regularly (https://sites.google.com/site/kienbaummatthew/mr-matthew-e-kienbaum/home/theatre).

4. Actors: Lines/blocking to be learned on time. Crew: Projects completed on time.

5. Keep food and drinks in the designated area only (Do not chew gum while on site).

6. No disruptive behavior that will affect rehearsals or performances will be permitted. Students must remain in designated areas during rehearsals and performances. Failure to adhere to this expectation will result in disciplinary action that may include

1) A warning from the director or other responsible adult.

2) Extra labors or responsibilities

3) Possible removal from production

7. Students may be expected to provide their own shoes for the production.

8. Treat costumes and props with respect. This includes not eating while in costume. Costume designs are final and any questions or concerns regarding costumes must be addressed with the director.

9. Make no changes to the blocking, choreography, costumes, or set at any time without permission from the director.

10. Work hard to make the best show possible and maintain a good attitude even when stress levels are high.

11. A student will not allow their cell phone to interfere with the rehearsal process. If a phone distracts a student from their responsibilities, they will turn it off and surrender it to the director. If it happens twice, the phone will be turned off and surrendered to the director at the beginning of each rehearsal.
