The W sound is often confused with the R sound so it is helpful to study them sequentially.
1. Say the sound of W. Repeat until correct.
2. Say way-way-way-way-way
wee-wee-wee-wee-wee
why-why-why-why
woe-woe-woe-woe
woo-woo-woo-woo-woo
3. Say flower-flower-flower
power-power-power
fewer-fewer-fewer
4. The W sound does not lend itself to the fourth drill, but it is helpful to practice the difference between R and W in the following drill:
wade-raid
wave-rave
weed-read
wag-rag
wage-rage
wake-rake
wait-rate
way-ray
weed-reed
weep-reap
wed-red
walk-rock
ring-wing
ripe-wipe
rink-wink
rind-wind
rail-wail
rent-went
rest-west
