You can use the clock face for a variety of purposes. Here are some ideas...
1. Print multiple copies so that each student has his own clock. Teach the minutes and have the student label the clock with "5-10-15-20-etc." to show the minutes. Save these clocks for drills by putting them in a plastic erasable worksheet page protector.
2. Give a clock drill. Each student should have an erasable marker and his clock in a plastic page protector. Write the time on your white board in a notation like "2:05," and have the students write the hands on their clock face using the markers. Erase between each drill.
3. You can also use a teacher copy of the erasable clock to demonstrate how to tell time. Teach the hours first, and then the minutes. Later, teach the idea of "half past," "quarter past" and "quarter till" the hour. Next teach the idea of minutes before the hour (e.g. "Twenty minutes to six.") Give clock drills for each new concept.
4. Create a classroom clock by cutting out the clock hands and fastening them to the clock to make moveable hands that the student manipulates to show the time. This works best if printed on the sturdier card stock.
