This small wreath is a nice gift for a special friend. It can also be made with red and green fabrics for Christmas. If you want to make a larger wreath, use the same directions, but use strips that measure 8 inches by 64 inches.
- Choose three compatible cotton fabrics for your wreath.
- From each fabric, cut a strip that measures 5 inches by 27 inches.
- Fold the fabric with right sides together and pin in place. The strip should now measure 2 1/2 inches by 27 inches.
- Sew a 1/2 inch seam across one end and the side, leaving one end open.
- Stuff the tube with polyester fiberfill as you turn it inside out. To do this, work from the sewn end and poke about a finger's length of the tube back into itself. Stuff that part. Use a wooden spoon to push the stuffed part farther through the tube, then stuff some more. Continue until the entire tube is stuffed and turned. Lay this tube aside.
- Repeat this process for the remaining two strips.
- Pin the three stuffed strips together and braid. You will want to braid in a multiple of three so that the wreath will come out right. You may have to cut off part of each tube to make it come out right.
- Make the braid into a circle and pin each tube so that its end is attached to its beginning. Each strip of fabric forms a circle with itself.
- Turn the open ends under 1/2 inch and whip stitch them to their beginning.
- Sew a small curtain ring or loop of ribbon onto the back for hanging. You may wish to sew a bow made of ribbon to the top as well.
- The wreath may be given with this poem:
A circle is round
And never ends,
Just as my love
For you, my friend.
