The Experiment: You will need a coffee filter or blank newsprint, a bowl of water, and a black (non-permanent) marker. Cut the coffee filter or blank newsprint into strips. On one end of each strip, draw a design with the black marker. Drape each strip over the bowl so that the blank end dips into the water and the design is dry. Allow the strips to soak up the water for 30 minutes. What happens?
