Chocolate Chip Cookies

1. Put 3/4 cup (1 1/2 sticks) margarine in a large microwave-safe bowl. Soften in microwave for 60 seconds on medium power, or allow to soften for 1 hour at room temperature.

2. Add 3/4 cup white sugar, 3/4 cup brown sugar, 2 eggs, 1 tsp vanilla, and 1/4 tsp salt. Mix well either with a mixer or by hand.

3. Gradually add 2 1/2 cups flour and 1 tsp baking soda.

4. Mix by hand 1 1/2 packages chocolate chips.

5. Preheat oven to 350 degrees, then drop cookies onto pans by the spoonful.

6. Bake in the oven for 13 minutes.
