Gathering pieces of Nippon aesthetics - as these relate to classical haiku (hokku) - we begin to see a pattern emerge. Out of this pattern we may glimpse an ancient story. First though, what are some of the primary word cognates which may comprise this living jigsaw and how do these relate to the mystic substrate of our subject; these ripples on an ancient pond?
"Yugen, the deep indigo twilights of dusk and dawn in ma of mu; the liminal apprehension of this mystery which surrounds us - that is the 'soul' of mono no aware.
