OUR PHIL

Phillip Hughes, he heard the call

Grabbed his cap, his bat and ball

Took the crease, made his mark

Knocked the ball out of the park

His 100’s came, his 100’s went

Shows the hours that he spent

To reach the peak of his career

And did it all without fear

The runs that came in from his bat

A tribute to his baggy cap

As he, a team and country player

And one and all know he’s a stayer

He played his game as he knew best

Not worried be it shield or test

Attacked the bowlers as they come

Then set off for the winning run

But then he heard the Master’s call

Took with him his bat and ball

To play upon his Master’s side

And play it with much joy and pride
