Flowers

Of all the flowers one can see

There's one that's plain but dear to me

A poppy that has petals, red

Reminds me of those, alive and dead

A symbol to our fighting men

The Anzac spirit, now and then

In Gallipoli they fought and died

And battled on with Aussie pride

On Australia's many battlefields

Poppies seen in many fields

A reminder of our battles then

And the courage of our fighting men

And then again on Anzac Day

The threat of war will go, we pray

As men with heavy hearts do march

Remembering friends from in their past

This poppy then, so bright and red

Cause men to march, with lifted head

And pray now, as in the past

That in this life a peace will last
