AUSTRALIA DAY

Australia day, sing loud and clear

For we've travelled through another year

Advance Australia in song and praise

As we advance to another phase

The flag is flown through city and town

Over pastures green and country brown

It matters not, for we are one

As we forge on and our songs are sung

Our beaches shine in our summer heat

As we prance about on tender feet

And watch the waves break on the beach

Where lifeguards watch and also teach

The kangaroos and wallaby call

Among the trees, so gaunt and tall

And the muted call of the turtle dove

Reminds us all of this land we love

Where summer heats reach fifty plus

And fires burn with heated lust

Yet winter times its cold and bleak

Where six degrees would be the peak

Our coat of arms and flag so tall

And one and all, we must recall

The wars that made this country great

And gelled us all as mate for mate

With singlets, shorts and airy thongs

We're Aussies one, with Aussie bonds

So raise your glasses, and let us pray

As we celebrate our Australia Day.
