ComputerPals

A bunch of oldies meets near Islington Public School

We have a lot of fun there, teaching stuff that’s really cool.

Other oldies come there too to learn about PC’s

And sometimes helping others has the tutors on their knees.

We go through Windows 10 and other stuff that’s new,

And slowly all the people learn just what they need to do

To mostly make their own PCs and laptops all behave,

So the work that they just did is – maybe – safely saved.

But just where did they save it? - Somewhere safe ‘out there’.

In storage out in cyberspace – recovery is rare!

They cut and paste with gusto, and save it in a file

And when they find where it has gone, we see a happy smile

There’s nothing like computers to teach you how to swear.

Frustration builds and fingers tap and tension fills the air.

But just when they decide they want to shoot the rotten thing

The tutor cries “Rotate! – now come round here in a ring”

I’ll show you how to do this, then you all can do it too.

I hope you’ve got your memory stick because this is what we’ll do….

You’ll find files on the desktop I’ll show you how to save

So you can practise keyboard stuff you learned from Col and Dave.”

Eyes glazed over, faces paled, nervous hearts beat fast;

One and all were so afraid the knowledge wouldn’t last.

But by degrees they learn it all and practice what they know.

The difference is just wonderful when knowledge starts to grow.
