Rhyme's Lament

A poem without rhyme

Doesn’t seem to be a poem.

‘Cause rhyme’s what makes a verse

And no rhyme makes no sense.

Now that’s what ASCCA wants

So rhythm’s what I need.

I’ll put three beats a line.

Then rhyme screams out “Hey You!”

“All verses need a rhyme.

Don’t leave me in the cold.

You know it will upset me

And I can’t handle that.

Please put me in your poem,

You know I love it there,

And rhythm needs his buddy.

To make your poems sing.”
