A Seascape

The moon was at it's brightest

As it crawled across the sky

And created mottled shadows

When the clouds above passed by

There was silver on the ocean

As far as the eye could see

Just broken by black spaces

Where ships were anchored out at sea

The rugged rocks and headlands

In this muted light of night

Expressed a different type of landscape

As what Mars surface might be like

The night birds send a calling

Resplendent in their flight

Dive into murky waters

Catching sea food with delight

The clouds above now gather

Into a mass of silver grey

And blanket out the moonlight

As the moon goes on it's way

Then in the early morning

The moon has gone to rest

And with the eastern sunrise

Is the time that I like best.
