The Rams Volleyball team is enjoying one of it best seasons yet! As of the end of September, the team record was 8-1. With one loss to Mahwah, the record also includes wins against the historically strong teams of Pascack Hills and AHA. There are five returning Varsity players this year: Lauren Slovikowsy, Aislin Fine, Kylie Featherstone, Sasha Penn, Ava Krenicki, Eileen Cronin, and Peyton Oliver. Four people new to varsity are Kate Jablon, Emma Hali, Jessica Spierenberg, and Courtney Currier. The team has competed in two tournaments, the Jersey Classic and Leonia Tournament. At the Jersey Classic, they defeated Indian Hills, a very skilled team that caused the team trouble last year in post- season play. At the Leonia Tournament, they nearly beat Northern Highlands; losing by only two points. NHRHS is one of the top teams in the State making for a rewarding experience.Additionally, Peyton Oliver has committed to Johnson and Wales University to continue her volleyball career.
Join the team on October 15th as they raise funds to “Spike Out Cancer.” Watch the team as they attempt to avenge their earlier loss against Mahwah. An enormous bake sale will open at 2:45pm and a serving contest will take place at half time for spectators. The money will be donated to the Ramsey Relay for Life team “Spike Out Cancer.” Additional donations can be made by visiting www.relayforlife.org/ramseynj . The JV and Freshmen teams will compete at 4:15pm followed by the Varsity team at 6pm.
The team is working hard at every practice to fully develop their aggressive offense in hopes of surpassing last year’s post-season play! To date, at least one player, Peyton Oliver, has committed to playing at the collegiate level. She will be attending Johnson and Wales University in the Fall of 2020.
