As a young adult continuously growing, and maturing, I’ve come to realize relationships are so important and very common in high school students. Being able to recognize your own identity and when a relationship is unhealthy is not easy and is something that even older adults struggle with. A women by the name of Danielle DeZao who has experienced being in an abusive relationships helped shed light on these unhealthy, abusive relationships. She helps to fight and spread awareness of this problem throughout schools in the nation. She explains that everyone isn’t alone in this fight, she shares informations about her organizations The Purple Thread which helps not only victims fight through this harsh reality but also friends, family and anyone willing to sit in, listen and learn.
During her presentation, she shared her heart wrenching story with the entire school. She explained her motives behind creating The Purple Thread, and showed it's growth over the years. Her mission is really empowering. Danielle DeZao has not only encouraged Ramsey High School but she has shown the nation that she is a smart, young, intelligent leader. Her journey through life has been difficult and she has dedicated it to helping others who share the same difficulties. She encourages others to stand together and fight together. She encouraged us all to have self-empowerment and self-love. She had very big impact on me and many of my peers. I am extremely grateful to attend a school that is interested in giving us all the information we need so that we know we are not alone and that we always have someone to turn to. It’s a comforting feeling these days. There are many scary things happening. We all need each other as positive reinforcements to help eachother grow and live, happy, long, successful lives.
