Betsy Sabatini Coyne, Class of 1983
(Dolly Levi)
I grew up in Ramsey on Elizabeth Avenue and then when I was 5 years old my family moved to Shadyside Road. I currently live in Ramsey right around the corner from where I grew up! My husband and I raised two boys who went through the Ramsey School system and are now in their twenties. I own the Ramsey business, PCMAC Technology. I teach people how to use their phone apps, web applications and computer software for use in both their homes and businesses.
I was a student at Ramsey High School in the early ‘80s and I loved it. I was a member of the Honor Society and I played the alto saxophone in the Marching Band and Wind Ensemble. During my junior and senior years, I was drum major and thoroughly enjoyed the responsibilities that the role brought as leader. I formed friendships with band members that I currently have today. The dedication to practicing and perfecting a performance, while having so much fun and laughter, was felt by all. But my fondest memories from high school are of acting and singing in the school musicals. I remember it like it was yesterday! And 35 years later, I have kept in touch with the teacher who directed me as Dolly Levi in “Hello Dolly”. We even got together recently to see the Broadway production!
The arts were not my only activity as I participated in sports as well. I was a member of the tennis team and acted in fall drama productions. With a full extra-curricular schedule, I learned quickly as a high school student how to use my time efficiently and keep myself motivated to keep up with assignments. During play rehearsals, I would do homework and in between tennis matches I would study my lines. These characteristics forced me to communicate and adapt and followed me to college and beyond. In college, I was director and leader of an a cappella singing group. Currently, I am a business owner which requires many different responsibilities. I still keep a very busy schedule! ( something that I learned how to manage in high school) and I am still multitasking!
