On October 22, 2018, Frankie (LaVigna) Reganato addressed the recipients of our Scholastic “R” awards (pictured to the left). Students earn a Scholastic “R” by having a 3.0 or better average in all classes from the previous year. Frankie was invited to speak because she is a true Ram in every sense of the word. She graduated RHS in 2002 and she is a 5th Grade Teacher at Dater. Frankie's husband, Anthony, is a Ramsey Grad and a great guy. Her mother, Joanne, was an English teacher at Ramsey High School and Frankie presents a Scholarship each year in her memory.
As a student at RHS, Frankie was involved in a variety of activities such as Leadership and Government, and Athletics. Frankie spoke about the competencies outlined in our Profile of a Ramsey Graduate in her address to the Scholastic “R” recipients. As a high school student, Frankie emulated the competencies that have become the Profile of a Graduate. She is a pioneer of sorts in that she was the first high school student to serve as a Teaching Assistant in a class during her high school days. Working as Teaching Assistant in high school allowed her to explore her interest in teaching and she was given multiple opportunities to practice the competencies outlined in the Profile of a Graduate. We are grateful for Frankie’s continuing contributions and her assistance in building an Alumni group who will serve as a resource for our students as “Professionals in Residence”.
Unfortunately, out of nowhere this Fall while training for the NYC Marathon, Frankie was diagnosed with an aggressive form of Lymphoma. Frankie is an incredible mom, friend, and teacher. She is caring and giving, a “salt of the earth,” kind of person. Friends have set up a Go Fund Me page to support their family as she fights to beat this thing!
