Going into the season I did not know what to expect from everyone. I knew that as a captain I would have to step up to help my team succeed, but I was still worried since we lost many important players from last year. Although we lost people, it did not affect how we played. We knew it would be different but that’s just like every year. People leave and others step up. With each practice we began to improve more and more until we all got really comfortable with each other. Unfortunately we lost our first game of the season in a lucky over time shot, but I knew that we would be able to do some damage in the following games.
After the first game we really came together as a team and started to eliminate the competition. Everyone wanted to knock us down but we continued to persevere and show them who Ramsey Field Hockey is. No matter who we were playing we always wanted to play our hardest for the whole game. Even though we came up short for the County Finals, we had an incredibly successful season. I know that I would not want to play with any other team. I love my teammates and the bonds I have made on the team will always be remembered. It is still unbelievable to think that my field hockey career is coming to an end. It felt like yesterday I was a scared little freshman looking up to the seniors. If I could go back and do it all over again I would in a heartbeat. Now I’m just cherishing the last few games I have left with the best team I could have asked for.
