MN AG Releases Supplemental Opinion on New Legislation and SROs

In response to Commissioner Jett’s request for clarification on amendments to student discipline laws, Attorney General Keith Ellison released a second opinion on September 20. As of this writing it is unclear if the second/supplemental opinion will provide the clarification desired by law enforcement agencies who have withdrawn SRO positions from school districts.

Mark your calendars for 11:00 am on October 26 to attend the virtual MASA Information Session, “Student Loan Solutions,” facilitated by Gary Havir of Horace Mann. Gary has helped educators in the Saint Paul School district with somewhere around $13 million in loan forgiveness opportunities. In the last 30 days, there has been at least $1.5 million in loan forgiveness. Once registration information is published, please feel free to invite your staff who may be interested.
