MDE Releases Update on Unemployment Reimbursement Aid Usage

I encourage you to review this slide show that has been provided by MDE regarding summer term unemployment aid. You will find how much has been spent of the original $135 million allocated by the legislature two years ago and the remainder for the upcoming year. 

As we suspected, the $135 million will likely not be enough to cover three years of usage as MDE predicts that the program cost will be roughly $58 million annually.

Thanks to all of you who responded to the survey request. You provided essential information and now we need to vigorously advocate for full funding of the program to ensure the cost is not placed on school districts.
