No Wonder Why Finding Staff is So Hard!

I was at a meeting this week where the state demographer, Susan Brower, shared that the average number of monthly job openings in Minnesota for 2023 was 199,000, while the average number of unemployed for 2023 was 93,000. Obviously, major implications for your hiring efforts.

MASA Executive Officers Effective May 17, 2024

Current MASA President, Dr. Joe Gothard, is resigning as Superintendent of Saint Paul Public Schools effective May 17, 2024. This leaves a gap in MASA leadership as the official start date for executive officers is July 1 the year they are elected. 

The MASA bylaws allow the executive officers to fill executive officer openings that occur outside of the typical election timeline process. On April 22, the following actions were taken by the executive officers:

1. Current President-elect, Dr. Ann-Marie Foucault was named President effective May 17, 2024.

2. Incoming President-elect, Dr. Stacie Stanley was named President-elect effective May 17, 2024.

Previously, Dr. Matt Hillmann had agreed to serve another year as MASA Past President. Dr. Scott Thielman continues to serve as treasurer.
