Budget Forecast Released
Minnesota is projected to have a $2.4 billion budget surplus, but most of this money is expected to be one-time only and not for ongoing projects/programs. State officials are also predicting a budget deficit going into the next biennium – FY26/27 – due to health and human services and education spending.

Special Election Results
MN Representative Ruth Richardson announced her resignation in September, which triggered a special election held this past Tuesday, December 5. Bianca Virnig (DFL) was elected enabling DFLers to retain their 70-64 majority in the MN House of Representatives. Representative Virnig is a school board member in District 196, an employee of BrightWorks (formerly Metro ECSU), and represents House District 52B, which includes parts of Eagan and Mendota Heights.
