Championing the Public Education Promise: AASA President David Law Leads the Way
The past few weeks have been filled with meaningful engagement around AASA’s Public Education Promise (PEP) initiative. At the Fall Conference, attendees heard from David, who highlighted the outstanding work taking place in Minnesota’s public schools.
Last week, AASA hosted a "Real Skills for the Real World" event as part of the Public Education Promise (PEP) initiative. Associate Superintendent Amy LaDue from the Minnetonka School District attended, as Minnetonka and school districts across Minnesota and the nation continue exploring changes to high school graduation requirements to ensure all students engage in experiential learning.
On Thursday, Ann Levett (AASA) and David met with Governor Walz, First Lady Gwen Walz, Commissioner Willie Jett, and Reagan Greene (his education aide and a Minnetonka graduate) to share the PEP document and explore opportunities for broader national engagement.
That same day, Ann and David hosted a breakfast with metro-area leaders, including Lisa Sayles-Adams, Stacie Stanley, Carlondrea Hines, and Christine Tucci Osorio. The conversation was productive and energizing.
This week, a PEP event in Phoenix is underway, where David will be attending and likely offering brief introductory remarks. Several similar events are planned throughout the year to expand awareness and impact.
David shared that AASA is looking forward to expanding this work and welcomes any support or partnership opportunities to move the Public Education Promise forward. Please send your ideas to either one of us! david.law@minnetonkaschools.og or deb.henton@mnasa.org
