New MSHSL Board President for the 2024-2025 School Year!

On June 4, the MSHSL Board of Directors affirmed the recent vote of the Board Officers. This includes naming Sauk Centre School Superintendent Don Peschel as President. Don is also serving his final year on the MSHSL Board of Directors as the MASA Class A Representative. Congratulations President Peschel!

Invitation for you to join a Thought Leaders Summit!

I invite you to join your colleagues for the 2024 Minnesota Thought Leaders Summit, held on June 17 at Tech High School in St. Cloud, MN. This gathering provides thought leaders the opportunity to learn together and exchange ideas on leveraging Generative AI to change the "how" and "what" of our education system. As a school district leader, you have the authority and influence to shape this work.

Legislators, superintendents, principals, higher education and business leaders have all confirmed attendance, and we need your voice and input. This event marks the beginning of an effort to ensure Minnesota becomes a leader in relevant and responsive education systems that well prepare our future work force and citizenry.

New Superintendent Data

As of this writing, we have confirmed the following data:

• 14 brand new superintendents

• 1 new to MN superintendent

• 3 superintendents who started mid-year 

• 11 superintendents who have changed/are changing districts or returning to the superintendency

• 2 named interim superintendents

• 7 yet-to-be-named superintendents

We encourage search firms to share the results of their searches with us and if there is not a search firm being used, we ask anyone leaving a position to contact either Sara Klecker at sara.klecker@mnasa.org or Deb Henton at deb.henton@mnasa.org with the name of the school district with the opening and who has been hired.  Thanks for your help keeping our records accurate!
