READ Act Revisions
The chief author of the READ Act in the House, Representative Edelson, continues to listen to concerns and suggestions for revisions to the statute that will impact implementation moving forward. Another version of the proposed changes to the statute was reviewed and discussed on February 27 with roughly 15 stakeholders, including representatives from MSBA, AMSD, ED MN, MASA, and others.
Given recommendations, Representative Edelson said we can expect another new version to review on Friday, March 1. We continue to ask for additional funding, more clarity on who needs training and resources to assist school districts now and in the years ahead.
The bill will be heard in the House on March 5. Representative Edelson said it may be possible for additional changes even after the hearing. Stay tuned…
