Matthew Morse

Matthew Morse – Class of 1986

Chief Warrant Officer Matthew Morse enlisted in the United States Army in 1986 and served two tours each with the 4th Infantry Division Band, Fort Carson Colorado, and the 296th Army Band, Camp Zama, Japan. He served as euphonium player, trombone player, drum major, percussionist, bass guitarist, flutist, vocalist, sound reinforcement/recording technician, arranger, Operations Noncommissioned Officer. 

In 1997, Mr. Morse was selected for training as a warrant officer bandmaster and served as a Project Officer with Directorate of Training and Doctrine at the Army School of Music and commanded the 3rd Infantry Division Band at Ft. Steward, Georgia, the 1st Armored Division Band in Wiesbaden, Germany, and the 282nd Army band at Ft. Jackson, SC. In April of 2003, his 1st Armored Division Band was deployed to Kuwait and Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.

His awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal, the Army Commendation Medal, the Army Achievement Medal, The Army Good Conduct Medal, the National Defense Service Medal with one Bronze Star, the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, and the NATO Medal for Service in the Former Yugoslavia.

In 2007, he joined the staff of the United States Military Academy Band as Associate Bandmaster and Director of Jazz Knights.
