John Prins (Athlete - 1974)
John is a 1974 graduate of Bloomington Jefferson where he participated in swimming.
John had a prolific swimming career at Jefferson.
John was the 100-yard backstroke state champion in 1972, 1973, and 1974.
He set state records each year and his 1974 record lasted for 19 years and was the 2nd fastest in the nation in 1974.
John was also the 200 individual medley state champion in 1974 along with gaining NISCA All American status three times during his high school career.
He was a captain and 3 time letter winner.
After Jefferson, John swam collegiately at Alabama where he was a 3 time All American and placed in the top 5 in the 100 meter backstroke at the 1976 Olympic Trials.
John has had a long real estate career and currently resides in Savage with his wife (and fellow Jaguar) Barb.
