Don Switzer (Posthumous), Teacher/Coach
Don Switzer was a long time Physical Education teacher and coach in the Bloomington School District starting at Lincoln HS in 1968 and then moved over to Bloomington Jefferson in 1970 when it opened up.
He coached the Jefferson boy’s soccer team from 1970-1995 and retired from teaching in 1999.
In all, Switzer took 8 Jefferson teams to the state tournament during his soccer tenure.
Don was considered one of the “Fathers of Soccer” in Bloomington for his involvement in getting high school soccer started.
Switzer has been inducted into the MN State High School Soccer Coaches Association Hall of Fame as well as the Bloomington Sports Hall of Fame.
In addition to coaching soccer, Don coached softball, alpine skiing and hockey during his teaching career.
