Norm Prins/Tom Thomas/Roger White (Teachers/Coaches/Supporters)
Norm Prins taught math and coached football, basketball and track in middle school and high school for over 50 years.
It has been his goal to encourage young people, especially those who had less confidence to step forward into athletics and become involved and to have fun as they play.
His goal was to get as many kids involved as possible because he believed that sports not only kept kids active, but developed skills they could use throughout their lives.
Tom Thomas was a long time middle school teacher who enjoyed watching all Bloomington sports for over 50 years.
Tom was never a coach, but he was a very active part of so many students and athletes lives.
He didn’t really show up to watch the games, but rather to support the students in their endeavors.
Tom took interest in all of his students and especially those that didn’t have the greatest support because of personal issues.
Every student loved Tom and watching the students kept him young, active and positive about school and kids.
Roger White taught and coached hockey, football and track & field at Olson Middle School in Bloomington for many years.
In addition to teaching, he was also a middle school athletic director and later became a school counselor.
He loved working with middle schoolers and encouraging them to get involved.
He paid special attention to making sure kids that didn’t have the greatest support at home to get involved and continue to play as the transitioned to Bloomington Jefferson High School.
