Jack Evens (Teacher/Coach)

Jack Evens was Jefferson High School's head basketball coach for 26 years, and was the first coach at Jefferson to win a Lake Conference Championship and a State Tournament Championship.  He led his teams to 4 State Championship titles, 2 State Consolation titles, and 1 Third Place State title.  His state tournament record as a coach is 18-5 (78%).  Jack's teams won 8 Lake Conference basketball championships, as well as 8 Region and 5 runner-up titles. Jack's Jefferson career record is 429-154; his overall record is 554-193.  Jack was named Minnesota Coach of the Year for the 1981-82 season, and won the Region Coach of the Year 5 times.  Jack was elected to the Wisconsin State College - Superior Hall of Fame in 1973 and the Minnesota Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 1994.  Jack had 2 34-game winning streaks in the Lake Conference, and 2 undefeated seasons.  Jack officiated in the North Central College football conference for 25 years, and was a Minnesota State High School League football official for 25 years.  Jack retired from teaching American History at Jefferson High School after 34 years. Jack lives in Bloomington with his wife Carroll.
