The Jungle Book by Rudyard Kipling
Hi, I’m Tekla, a student of the class 3ES at Bonfigli School. Today I will tell you about a book: “The Jungle Book”.
This book was written by Rudyard Kipling, a famous writer who had great success with this book.
The Jungle Book is a historical fiction for children because it teaches them what it means to be kind and help others.
I really liked this book because it made me smile and made me understand many things about human and animal attitudes.
While I was reading there were always moments when I couldn’t stop because I wanted to be able to understand what the message wanted to convey to me.
The main character is called Mowgli, he is a wild boy who lives in the jungle with two friends, Baloo the bear and Bagheera the panther.
These two animals wanted to help the child escape from the jungle before the tiger arrived.
My favourite part of the book is the beginning, when I read that wolves started to settle in and made friends with all the animals and then lived together with them.
This story is set in the jungle of Southern India (The Seeonee Wolf-Park).
I recommend this book!!!

A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens
Hi, I’m Elena and I read a book which is called “A Christmas Carol”. It is a book of Charles Dickens. It’s a fantasy and quite realistic book. I think it’s for people who love Christmas and stories that pass from a bad beginning to a happy ending. When I was in the central part of the story I was scared because I didn’t know if it ends well or bad. But the end is the best part of the book. Oh! I didn’t introduce you the characters! Well, the main one is Scrooge. It’s a rich and bad men, but: will it be like this for the whole book?
Only if you read it you can find out! There are also three ghosts that take part of the book. What will they do? Will they be the bad characters or the good ones? And who’s Marley? What part does it have in the story? I can’t tell you, sorry. The most significant place is Scrooge’s house. Extraordinary events will happen there. Other two important characters may be Bob Cratchit and Tiny Till. Are they friends with Scrooge or Scrooge will hate them and will he help them or not? Do you want to know the whole story of “A Christmas Carol”? Only if you read it you can.
What are you waiting for? Buy it before it runs out!
A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens
Hello, my name is Ricardo. I'm a student of the class 3 ES and today I’m going to write a book review about a book that I read.
The book is called A Christmas Carol, it’s an A2 level book, it was written by Charles Dickens and it was published in 1843 in London.
Charles was a British writer and journalist who lived in the 1800s and he was influenced by William Shakespeare and many other writers.
The genre of the book is a tale or fiction and on the 3rd of December 2009, Disney filmed a movie about A Christmas Carol and the director was Robert Zemeckis. I recommend this book to everyone, especially to those who love Christmas stories, because it gives a very important life lesson in the end and if you want to discover it you have to read this book. While I was reading this book I was really angry about how Mr. Scrooge behaved at the start of the story but I was surprised in the end.
Oh, I didn't tell you who Mr.Scrooge is. Well, Mr.Scrooge is the main character in the book and he’s an old man who only cares about money and thinks that Christmas is a humbug but he didn’t know that he was going to learn a very important lesson.
A Christmas Carol is set on Christmas Eve in London in the 1840s.
I think that a very sad part of the story is when Mr.Scrooge discovers what will happen if he continues to behave like this and he gets very sad because he doesn’t want to die like a person hated by everyone but will he be like this forever? Read the book if you want to know it.
I think it’s a well written book with good lexic and pictures that can help you understand the story. The only thing I didn’t like is that I finished a little bit fast but that’s ok.
I give this book four stars

Amlet, Prince of Denmark by William Shakespeare
My name is Denis, and this is my book review of the book “Hamlet, prince of Denmark” by William Shakespeare. This is a tragedy, drama, and fiction book. I recommend it to everyone who likes drama and fiction and to everyone who likes Shakespeare’s style of writing.
There are some moments in this book that have a big impact on the readers’ emotions while reading it. For example, it really made me angry when Claudius, the real king’s brother, sent Hamlet away because he was about to discover his secret, and it made me sad when in the end…
The main character is Hamlet, a brave and intelligent young man, who is the prince of Denmark, and who tries to avenge the death of his father.
“Hamlet, prince of Denmark” is thought to be set in Denmark between the 1300s and 1400s.
I think that the most famous part of the book is when Hamlet speaks the famous soliloquy:
“ To be or not to be” and rejects Ophelia, whom he had previously professed love to.
This book is very well written, it’s a comics book so I think that it is very easy to understand thanks to the drawings. The only thing that I didn’t like is that I finished reading it a bit fast but that might be because I’m a fast reader, so I’m going to give it four stars.

The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde
In my opinion, The Picture of Dorian Gray is a beautiful book.
The story is about Dorian Gray, a very handsome twenty-year-old boy, who is portrayed by his painter friend Basil Hallward. Later, Dorian meets Lord Harry Wotton, who tells him that he can't stay handsome and charming for life; sooner or later he will grow old and ugly. So Dorian, influenced by Lord Harry's thoughts, decides to live a life of pleasures without any moral scruples and making all those who love him suffer.
The portrait is in Dorian's house, but he notices that the painting has changed since Basil painted it. Now the boy in the painting had an evil expression on his face, but Dorian doesn't care that much and continues to live his life.
One day, Dorian meets a talented actress, Sybil, who becomes his girlfriend, and future wife, but decides to leave her because he no longer finds her as charming as before. The girl, desperate, kills herself.
The picture changes again and the boy in the portrait becomes uglier and uglier. The next day, Basil goes to talk to Dorian about Sybil, but Dorian, unable to accept the dramatic situation in which he is, kills Basil.
The painting changes again, but Dorian's face in real life remains the same as always: beautiful and fascinating.
Now everyone is afraid of Dorian. There are legends and terrifying stories about him, and people avoid even walking in front of his house.
Dorian couldn't even look at the picture anymore and he was very afraid. So, one day, he decided to get rid of it, but it won't end well for Dorian.
I really liked the parts where Dorian looks at his portrait because I think they are very well written and manage to convey to the reader the feelings that the main character is experiencing. But the thing that I loved the most was the ending; it was full of suspense and I think it was incredible.
In conclusion, I recommend this book to all the people who love dramatic novels with a bit of mystery. I, personally, loved it and I think it's one of the most beautiful works written by Oscar Wilde
Treasure Island by Robert Louis Stevenson
Are you afraid of adventures? I hope you’re not because I'm going to tell you about a scary story. This book tells about a young boy: Jim Hawkins, a curious boy who has to help his mother economically so he is also ready to leave for the other part of the world. Jim lives at his father’s inn on the weast coast of England. The story starts with the arrival of a mysterious guest, Billy Bones, who brings with him a large chest containing a treasure map that is the key of an adventurous journey that will take Jim around the world. I read this book in a short time and I liked it because there were some unexpected scenes that obviously I can’t reveal. I think that the message is to try to do things that scare us and not stop in front of difficulties, because in the end they could be the best choice we made, for example a beautiful scene was when the Doctor Livesey chose to give the map for save his friend even if he could lose the treasure.
This Book is a mystery, fiction story and it’s written by Robert Louis Stevenson, he was born in Edinburgh in 1850. He studied law at Edinburgh. He suffered from bad health all his life but that didn’t stop him from living a full life, so he began his career writing the description of his travels.
I recommend this book to all lovers of adventures, but above all I recommend it also to those who are not very good at English since it is very easy to understand so in my opinion it is a good first reading. The story is very pretty, too.
The phantom of the Opera by Jennifer Bassett
‘Do we believe in ghosts? Of course not. We like to talk about ghosts, and to tell stories about them, but we don’t really believe in them… Do we?’
This book talks about a phantom in a theater called Opera, in Paris.
It starts with a dancer who says that she saw the ghost, someone believes her but someone doesn’t. The next day a man who said that he saw the ghost too, died.
The situation gets worse when the singer of the theatre can’t sing so she’s replaced by a young girl, called Daeé. She isn’t a star but she became famous when she started to sing a song called Margarita in Opera.
Raul, a rich guy, fell in love with her and he wanted to marry her. But Doeé can’t marry him because she has to marry the phantom, her singing teacher, otherwise the ghost will kill Raul.
But Raul wants her badly and Daeé wants him too, so he tries to save her and to live a happy life with this girl but… I can’t say anything about it, I’m sorry, you have to read it if you want to know the end!
I think this is a really good book for people who are learning English because it isn’t difficult and the story is interesting and full of twists that shocked me.
It’s the perfect book for people who like mystery books. I really recommend it.
The Canterville Ghost by Oscar Wilde
One day Mr. Otis needed a new house and when he saw Canterville Castle he decided to buy it even though the owner warned him about a ghost who lived there, but Mr.Otis didn’t care at all.
When he moved in the house his sons saw the ghost and they started to have fun with him and prank him.
A lot of time passed…. the ghost got angry and he decided to…
I can’t say anything yet, if you want to know what happens you’ll have to read it.
I really recommend it

Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare
Romeo and Juliet speaks about a boy and a girl who live in Verona. Their families are the Capulets and the Montagues and they always fight.
Romeo was in love with a girl, Rosaline, but she didn’t love him.
Romeo was so sad about it and his mom noticed it. She called his cousin Benvolio to ask him why he was so sad. He talked to Benvolio about Rosaline. They heard about a feast at the Capulets court, and there was Rosaline too, so Romeo went there to tell her about his love. But when he went to the Capulets court he saw Juliet. She was so beautiful in his eyes, and he immediately fell in love with her. Juliet saw him and fell in love with him, too. They were both in love and they kissed. But their love was difficult because of their families.
Do you want to know if their love story will continue?
Will they get married?
If you’re curious then read the book and tell me if you like it.
The Tempest by William Shakespeare
Hello! So, this time I’m going to write a review about The Tempest, a book that, honestly, I didn't like too much.
The story is about the duke of Milan, Prospero, who got expelled on an island by his brother and the king of Naples. In the island there are some spirits and a king, Caliban, who is a strange creature hated by all the spirits. Here Prospero learns magic, discovers something about the island and takes care of his daughter, Miranda. One day Prospero sees a boat, where in it, with his magic, sees who’s in it: there is his brother, the king of Naples and his son, Gonzalo, a friend of Prospero who helped him and other men. Seeing them, Prospero, with the help of magic and spirits, plans revenge.
As I said, I didn't like the story a lot, because the story doesn’t make a lot of sense and some of the characters aren’t that intelligent. By the way, it is a good book and I suggest it to who likes fantasy ad has started to study English, because the book is easy to read.
The Case of the Blue Diamond by Arthur Conan Doyle
Do you want to spend an afternoon reading an interesting and easy book? The Case of The Blue Diamond by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle is for you. The Blue Diamond is a mystery book.
All began when someone stole a blue diamond from the Countess of Morcar. After that Peterson, the doorman at the Baker Street Hotel, found a goose and a hat. He gave them to Sherlock Holmes and his friend Watson. A few days later Peterson found a blue diamond in the goose and he gave it to Sherlock. He started working on this case. Then he and Watson saw a weak little man shouting at Mr Breckinridge’s. Sherlock asked the little man his name and they spoke a lot. This man is James Ryder and he knows everything about the Countess’ blue diamond. Do you want to know what he said to Sherlock? Read the book.
I really liked this book, my favourite part of the story was when the doorman found the blue diamond in the goose because I didn’t expect it and it was funny. Another part of the book that I liked was when James Ryder told everything to Sherlock because this paragraph was very interesting and it created suspense.
I advise this book to the people that like mystery stories but also to the people that don’t like this type of book because it is very short and exciting.
