Ways in which the AI tools in Adobe can be used to support pedagogy and develop an understanding of the use of AI.
Write a prompt
Analyse what the AI creates and identify ways it can be improved
Edit the initial prompt with improvements
Repeat the process
Schools can start to introduce creating text effects for their fonts. This allows learners to understand that they can create fonts which suit the context of their work. Prompts can start simple and develop in complexity.
Prompt: Coloured pencils
Prompt: Paint splashes
Prompt: Autumn leaves
Prompt: Mathematical formulas
Prompt: Newspaper
Prompt: Wales
Learners can complete several tasks where they can develop their understanding of effective prompting. This will improve their understanding of the importance of literacy skills.
Prompt: A castle on a hill
Prompt: A castle ruin on a hill, during a thunderstorm
Prompt: A castle ruin on a hill, during a thunderstorm. Several soldiers are walking towards the castle. A red dragon is perched on the edge of the castle wall.
Recreate scenes from books- analyse the text and extract the descriptive language, using this to create a prompt
Describe characters from books- identify the descriptive characteristics of a character in a story
In The Gruffalo by Julia Donaldson, the Gruffalo is described as a creature with terrible claws, and terrible tusks in its terrible jaws, and knobbly knees and turned-out toes, and a poisonous wart at the end of its nose.
Prompt: a creature with terrible claws, and terrible tusks in its terrible jaws, and knobbly knees and turned-out toes, and a poisonous wart at the end of its nose.
Learners can improve their prompts with edits to try to achieve a Gruffalo as depicted by Axel Scheffler, the illustrator of The Gruffalo.
Prompt: a friendly-looking creature with terrible claws, and terrible tusks in its terrible jaws, and knobbly knees and turned-out toes, and a poisonous wart at the end of its nose. It is covered in purple fur and has a happy smily face
Learners could be provided with images that they are asked to describe
Images can be made to support stories created in the classroom
Provide images which allow learners to explain their understanding of natural processes
Prompt: rain falling over the mountains with a river running down to the sea, which is illuminated by the sun.
The Water Cycle
Prompt: frog/frog spawn/tadpole/tadpole with legs (Froglet did not work)
Life Cycles (Generate text effect also used)
By creating videos which explain a learner's understanding, a teacher can gain insight into their application of the vocabulary they have been introduced to. This will develop a learner's literacy skills. This video is an example of what could be created in the classroom using Adobe Express.
To create this example, a teacher could:
set a success criterion of vocabulary to be used
set a criteria of areas to be included
Learners would then:
write a script of what they will say
break their script down into different parts
record and add media to support each element
self-assess against the success criteria
peer-assess the video of a learning partner
