On several occasions, teachers have informed me that they were unaware of the digital support available via this website.
Thank you to all Digital Leads who responded to take part in the development of a Flintshire Digital Skills Guide, I have now sent out an email with a Google Form to complete. If you could complete this by the end of the week to allow me to analyse the results and look at what to include in next weeks. They will all be short and will hopefully take less than 5 minutes to complete.
In September Hwb ran their 'DigiFest' which was a series of support events for the various Applications available to schools, this link will take you to the recordings from that day.
The 360 Cymru tools help schools self-evaluate their online safety and digital learning journeys, including advice, guidance and signposts to further resources and support.
I have added links to the policies that can be found through the Hwb platform.
A book by Jonathon Haidt highlights the impact digital devices have on the Children of today.
The link on this page takes you to their website, where there is more information for schools and parents about what could be done to support children in our digital world.
These sessions are aimed at allowing ALL Flintshire staff to attend.
Based on the response we get, we will look into using this model to facilitate training for digital tools in the future.
We currently have 19 members of staff who have said they will be attending one of these events.
I would like to understand if this format of supporting schools with training is something that will work if schools would prefer a different day/time for the training, please complete the form and in the question of 'which training would you like to attend?' please select other and let me know what would best for your school in the future.

Micro:bit UN World Science Day - 10 November
Supporting science teaching with the micro:bit
Research shows that practical, hands-on science learning is more engaging for young learners, but it can be hard to plan and equip.
The micro:bit can help. This tiny computer is packed with sensors for sound, light, temperature, magnetism, movement and conductivity. We provide the code so you can put it on the device and start investigating.
We have science projects ready to go for classroom learning across many topics, and a professional development course and upcoming webinar for teachers who would like some support to get started.
Environment exploration project - measure light, sound and temperature levels around you
Conductivity tester project - investigate if a material conducts electricity
Sound insulation meter - test which materials are the best sound insulators
Environment data logger - record and study data about the world around you
The countdown is on…
We hope you enjoyed the half-term break – with lots of spooky dress-up and celebration fireworks
For the NEXT exciting date in your diary, we’re inviting you to the biggest event on our calendar — the Be Internet Legends Day 2024 assembly, at 9.30am on Tuesday 26 November.
This year’s theme? It’s all about celebrating being kind online
