The Student Profile shows key details about a student.

Who:

Student Profiles give staff and faculty quick insight into the student’s performance and potential needs.

conditions:

In order to view the Student Profile, staff and faculty must have permission to view student profiles and permissions are given for each tab of the Student Profile

How:

Use the Quick Search at the top of each page to search for a student. You can search by, first name, last name, HCC email address, or full nine-digit student ID number. Your Success Team:

Overview tab:

The top gray box, also known as the 30-Second Overview, offers faculty and staff the opportunity to gather a basic understanding or “gut check” on the student’s academic performance to date.

The data includes course performance (number of Ds and Fs, number of repeated courses, and number of withdrawn courses), number of success marker notifications, GPA (GPA type depends on institution configurations), credit performance (number of credits earned, percentage of credits completed vs. attempted), and the student’s Predicted Support Level (calculated by the institution’s predictive model). Note that when you click on a number in the 30-Second Overview, only the first ten examples will appear.

The 30-Second Overview is intended to surface critical details regarding the student’s performance, but the full details related to each datapoint are available in other Student Profile tabs, such as the Success Progress and Class Info tabs.

Basic information such as the student’s IDs, classification year, most recent enrollment, and declared major are also listed on the Overview tab.

Goals & Interest is based on the information the student has supplied through Navigate Student. This section includes items that the student has favored within the mobile app (majors, fields, resources, subjects, and activities).

The Categories section includes a list of all categories associated with the student, depending on what we have brought over from Banner. The Tags section includes any information that has been manually tagged to the student’s Navigate profile.  More on Categories and Tags.

Success Progress Tab:

The Success Progress tab provides insight into different variables that might be indicators of eventual success, including a breakdown of the overall Predicted Support Level, key course milestone completion, and academic progress and performance trends.

The GPA Trends by Term chart visualizes the student’s GPA over time. Multiple GPAs can show, including Term GPA, Cumulative GPA, and Overall GPA. Hover over each term’s data point in the line graph to view details on the GPAs.

The Credit Trends by Term chart visualizes the student’s credit accumulation over time. Different aspects of credit accumulation show including Total Earned Credits, Credits Earned each term, and Credits Attempted each term. Hover over each term’s data point in the bar chart to view details on the credits.

History Tab:

Based on permissions, the History Tab has access to recorded interactions and activities with this student across campus. Some Car Unit information may be hidden. These include your Cases, Alerts, Progress Reports, Appointment Summaries, and Check-ins.

Expand All/Collapse All:

This option expands or collapses details for each activity type. When expanded, you can also take action on items when available, like managing a case.

View AS Type:

Click in the filter bar at the top to narrow the History view to specific activity types of interest. You can select one or multiple activity types.

Courses Tab:

The Courses tab of the student profile contains detailed historical and current course and assignment information for that student. The Courses table provides a list of the student’s classes. By default, it shows the current term by date, by using the Term filter, users can see any course the student has been enrolled in. For each class, the associated professors and meeting times/location are listed. The student’s mid-term grade and final grade are shown. The mid-term and final grades are brought in through Banner.

Term Details

The Term Details section shows an unofficial transcript for the student, listing the courses for each term in reverse chronological order. For each course, the attempted/completed credits are shown, as well as the student’s final grade. For each term, the Term at a Glance section shows the student’s overall performance during the given term, including total completed credits for the term, total credit completion ratio for the term, total term GPA, total Cumulative GPA, and Academic Standing for the term. The student’s pre-enrollment information like placement test information and High School are listed at the bottom of the Term Details section.

This will not replace DegreeWorks

Path Tab:

The Path tab helps staff gain insight into how a student is using Navigate Student app.

The first section of the tab shows student responses to any Intake Survey questions they answered in Navigate Student.

By default, a staff member sees all types of tasks (To-Dos or Key Dates) that are active and are due this week. Staff can filter on any of these (Task Type, Task Status, or Due) to change the content that is displayed. Task Type can be filtered by to-dos that are Active, Overdue, Completed or Dismissed. Due can be filtered to see to-dos for this week, this month, or the next 3 months. After applying filters, content about the student displays. Each task shows the start date and due date for the item.

Staff can choose any to-do title and a dialog containing all of the same information that the student is receiving in Navigate Student opens. It does not look the same as in the app, but all content is the same. Any external links used are also accessible.

This information should be used in two ways.

In this way, the staff member can help to provide consistent information and reiterate the correct resources and processes available to a student, even if it is outside of their typical scope of work.

For information to appear on the Path tab, a student must log in once to the Navigate Student app

More tab:

The Calendar tab shows the student’s calendar, including all appointments within Navigate, all currently registered courses, and any busy times if the student chooses to sync a personal calendar to the platform.

The Study Hall tab provides statistics on that student’s progress toward required weekly Study Hall hours. No areas at HCC are using this feature currently.

The Appointments tab of the Student Profile provides a list of the upcoming, recent, and no-show appointments for the student.
