Deeplinks to Navigate Student
What: Deep links are hyperlinks that are able to reach into an app or website and navigate the user into a specific feature within the app as opposed to just launching the app/site homepage. This allows emails, SMS messages, push notifications, or browser links to all provide extra value to a user by simplifying navigation.
Where: Deep links are hyperlinks you create and should only be used from outside the app (e.g. in an email) to inside the app. They should not be used for inside-to-inside navigate (e.g. a deep link from a To-Do to Study Buddies).
On Mobile
If a link is opened on mobile, behavior depends on whether the Navigate app is installed.
If the app is installed, the deep link opens the app. If the student is logged in, they are taken directly to the page in the app linked by the deep link.Â
If the student is not logged in, they must first log in and then the student should be taken to the feature page.
If the app is NOT installed, the deep link opens in the phone's default browser, loads the institution's login page and provides an option for the student to download Navigate. The student may log in, which should take them to the linked page, or click download, which opens the app store for the student's phone.
On Desktop
If a link is opened on desktop, behavior depends on if the student is already logged in to Navigate.
If the student is logged in, the deep link takes the student directly to the feature linked.
If the student is NOT logged in, they must first log in to Navigate. Then the student should be redirected to the feature page after login.
