Navigate360 facilitates a campus-wide coordinated student support network allowing advisors and other professionals to share Appointment Summary Reports that document interactions and other relevant information. The benefits of a single, accessible repository for Summaries include improved communication, coordination, efficiency, transparency, and a more personalized student experience in advising.
Reminder of the advice given during meetings with students (in person, by email or phone)
Help advisors and other student support staff communicate and provide consistent, informed service
Create an “institutional memory” of contacts and recommended actions
Record valuable data on student use of support services and associated outcomes
For what was the student seeking help?
What steps were taken to address the student’s concerns?
What advice and recommendations were made?
What are agreed upon follow-up actions? Were specific referrals made?
Overall, summarize what you discussed as it relates to the student’s success.
While finishing up with students, go into Navigate Staff- and fill out the Appointment summary WITH the student- the student will then be aware of what you have put in the summary. You can even inform them that these summaries are viewable to HCC staff members to make sure that every office is in the loop.
If you have an advising interaction with a student/ advisee via phone or email did you know that you can log in to the Appointment summary and simply click on " meeting type" and this is where you will find phone, email, in person, virtual .. etc , click the appropriate type and document your interaction. ( see below)
Recommendation only using Navigate to input Summaries instead of DegreeWorks (notes) because when we upload DW notes data into Navigate- it will be duplicated and we don't want that.
This is a work in progress so feel free to pass along your tips so we can share amongst each other.
