Kiosk FAQs

Can we set a Max Number of Appointments for drop-in visits at the Kiosk?

No, this functionality is not available for drop-in appointments.

Can the Kiosk automatically check out a student who has selected a service that requires them to check out, and the student has not done so?

Yes, the Kiosk can automatically check out a student based on the Amount of time to apply to a visit if the Student forgets to Check-out setting in Care Unit settings.

How does the Kiosk decide which term to show? For example, my student swiped into the Kiosk for course-based tutoring during Fall 2020 finals week and saw their Fall 2020 courses. When would they see their Spring 2021 courses?

The logic goes as follows: users cannot change the Global Term in Navigate once logged into the Kiosk. Navigate selects the term where the start/begin date is before today's date and the end date is after today's date to show on the Kiosk.

HOWEVER, if there are no active terms during today's date, the system picks the next active term for which the start date is after today's date. If two terms begin on the same date, the term selection will be random.

Can students make appointments on the Kiosk?

No, students cannot schedule appointments at the Kiosk.

If a student shows up late for a Student Service that requires an appointment, can they still check into the Kiosk?

Yes, a student can still check in for that particular student service appointment through the Kiosk. A student can check in during any time during the day of their designated appointment.

If a student leaves a Kiosk without selecting a Leave the Kiosk or Exit the Kiosk button, how long before the Kiosk automatically refreshes?

The timing depends on the institution. The Kiosk time-out function is set by your general internet browsing time-out policy and may also be dependent on the browser type.

Are inactive students able to use a kiosk?

Yes, depending on configurations.

If an advisor or tutor's availability changes, how long does it take to reflect on the Kiosk?

Any time a student reaches the page where staff would normally show, the page is being loaded based on current availability.

How does the First Available option work? Are appointments or drop-ins weighted any differently?

For first available drop-in appointments, everyone that is available for drop-ins is notified. There is no randomizing the notification. The first person to pick the student up gets the appointment. When the student goes through the scheduling workflow when the student did not choose staff, it randomizes what times are shown for the available staff.
