Girls swim team triumphant against Gresham gophers

The Mt. Hood Conference Dual Swim Meet Center was "overall a good start for the season" for the girls swim team after winning 138-14.

The Mt. Hood Conference Dual Swim Meet between David Douglas High School vs. Gresham High School held at the David Douglas Aquatics Center on Dec. 7 was "overall a good start for the season" for the girls swim team after winning 138-14 according to head swim coach James Bowe. 

The Scots took the lead for the relays. In the 200 yard medley relay, freshman Jaydy Nguyen, junior Kim Nguyen, sophomore Ja'lan Abdullah, and junior Alyssa Siripatrapa placed first with a time of 2:06.91. Continuing the relay victory streak, freshman Ariya Abdullah, sophomore Ellia Tan, junior Zoe Burks, and Kim Nguyen finished with a time of 1:52.68 in the 200 yard free relay. Tan, Burks, Jaydy Nguyen, and Kim Nguyen completed the streak after placing first in the 400 yard free relay with a time of 4:26.36.

Freshman Molly Cruz earned first place in the 50 yard freestyle event at 30.43. Cruz was also first in the 100 yard breaststroke event with a time of 1:26.13. Senior Katrina Nguyen and Alexandra Ryan took second and third place in the same event. 

Junior Elliott Swanson took the lead in the 200 yard freestyle and 500 yard freestyle with times 2:09.88 and 6:08.20. Following shortly after Swanson in the 200 yard freestyle were Ariya Abdullah, Katrina Nguyen, and junior Ella Bielman.

The Scots continued to be victorious in the 100 yard freestyle where Siripatrapa took first in the 100 yard butterfly event with a time of 1:03.69. In the 200 yard individual medley event, Kim Nguyen claimed first place at 2:29.72. Burks was first place with a time of 1:05.30 in the 100 yard freestyle. Freshman Kelsey Green was victorious in the 100 yard backstroke event finishing with a time of 1:19.12.
