In David Douglas High School, students sometimes find themselves lost. By learning the mysterious places of David Douglas High School this school year that have been lost through time, students may now understand where we are.

There are many rumors when it comes to the south building. The two more recent ones are an unused bowling alley under the south cafeteria and the shooting range. A Retired DDHS English teacher Mike Fritz debunks these rumors. “There isn't a bowling alley.” the source stated. What was found true was the shooting range.

The shooting range was used by a rifle club in the 1950s. When class ended, students would take their guns out of their trucks, and then head south for practice. Students would position themselves behind a wooden fence. A Retired DDHS English teacher Mike Fritz “I don’t know.” the source said. “They would hang papers with the target drawn onto them on top of a sandbox. When the bullet was shot, it would hit the metal wall behind the target, falling into the sand. I would guess that they probably stopped because there weren't any other schools to compete with.”  The reason why the class exactly ended is still unknown. “There weren't any accidents that I have heard of, at least,” said Fritz.

Other than the shooting range, there aren't many abandoned rooms here in the south that are now being used for storage. “Most of the abandoned rooms are now taken by the robotics class.” said Jim Blanchard, a janitor in the south, stated, “The hardest rooms to find at the beginning of the year or semester are 275 with 241.” These classes are mostly located near the exteriors of the south building, which is why they are hard to find.

The next mystery leads to the north buildings. The old pool room is currently being used for storage. “They have a lot of fillers," says head north building custodian Kert. “Some extra furniture, including stuff like teacher desks, student desks, stuff like mats, and sanitizer, and wipes, are all there.” We have many supplies to renew the school in the old pool room. Most of these items were brought as donations to David Douglas High School. “Most of this stuff will be used,” Kert later explains, “but, most of this stuff was donated to us.” The pool room, of course, had a reason for being replaced; as Kert said, “It was better just to have a new pool than to be changing the old pool every once in a while.” When it comes to the north rooms, there aren't any used for storage either. “There aren’t any abandoned rooms in the north,” Kert said. “While I think room 170 is the most difficult to find," For now, all the mysteries heard at the start of the school year were covered, but of course, it wouldn't be known if new ones might open throughout the school year.
