The girls soccer team tied with Nelson 1-1 their Senior night on Oct 4th.

The Scots played a tough game against the Hawks, with the Hawks excelling at speed, the Scots defense held off their speed, according to head girls soccer coach Melyna Kimball.

The Scots scored a 30 yard goal 22 minutes within the first half of the game: after an offside call Senior Defender Andrea Jaramillo stole the ball from Nelson, with a lack of Hawks to attack her nor defend the goal. Andrea lined up her shot and seized the opportunity. Afterwhich Nelson became more defensive, smothering the Scots offense in which the Scots followed suit. The first half of the game became a stalemate, of which every opportunity the Hawks and Scots had for each other they would find every opportunity to run each other out of the field.

The second half of the game began with both teams evenly matched in their offense and defense. At 26:54 Nelson scored a goal, the Scots began to play more offensively to keep Nelson on the defensive side afterward. Each team constantly seized the opportunity to steal the ball to stay on the attacking side. Nearing the 15 minute mark after this back and forth of attacks the Hawks managed to break through the Scots defense and lined up a shot in which was saved by Senior Goalkeeper Jessica Garcia-Cruz, including a foul shot at the 8 minute mark. The Scots remained on offense for the last 3 minutes, as they launched an all out attack in a last ditch effort to score.

"It was a great game. The girls faced some adversity the last couple of weeks, but they're coming back as a team,” said Coach Kimball.
