The seniors kicked off the year with Senior Sunrise, which occurred a little past dawn on Sept. 9 at the football stadium.

Senior sunrise has been a popular senior tradition, where schools all over the country wake up early to celebrate the first morning of the official day of school. This day was filled with smiles, bright colors, and lots of seniors repping their class of 2027, senior jeans and backpacks. Although very cold, many seniors had a lot to say about the early morning.

“It was good, and a great way to start off our senior year,” senior Bailey Deale said.

“ It was really good, very aesthetic, throwback vibes,” senior Jeremiah Glaspey said.

Other students had contradicting opinions.

“I thought it was like, really bittersweet for our last first day with the graduating class,”    said senior Lucy Stokes,  “It started too late.”

Students of the senior class seem to be anticipating the ending of this year, many students asking questions about whether this is going to be a good year or not.

“I'm really looking forward to graduating, there have been many changes this year and I'm curious to see how it will play out this new year.” senior Janaia Coley

Towards the end of the event, the seniors ran to surround the large rainbow parachute laid on the field, a game commonly played in the early years of elementary school. They shook the parachute and ran underneath, mirroring the experience of being in kindergarten. The event concluded with a picture of everyone that attended, the bell ringing, and all the seniors heading to class.
